Owner of a Broken Heart

A Life with Congenital Heart Disease

Welcome to my site.

For many years, I have wanted to change the lyrics to "Owner of a Lonely Heart" by Yes, switching the words broken and lonely in the chorus.  For me, being the owner of a broken heart is much better than being the owner of a lonely heart.   This site is about my life and how my heart has learned to soar even though my body cannot run, dance, or sustain the energy needed for a "normal" life.

What is congenital heart disease?

Glad you asked!  Congenital heart disease is a term used for a variety of abnormalities of the heart present at birth.  Those abnormalities can be anything from mild to life threatening.  My heart defect is called Tetrology of Fallot--four (tetra) defects first described by Dr Fallot.  It is the most common defect and it is considered to be a moderately severe defect.  If you are interested in learning more, I am attaching links to various sites where you can get information.

Winding Road

My Journey
Then and now

My journey with God has been one of switchbacks, hills and valleys, long lonely roads, and getting lost. This is a collection of things I have written along the way.  They aren't in chronological order but in the order of the stages in my life.

I was one way and now I am completely different.  And the thing that happened in between was Him.

Tatting: a Lost Art

Tatting is an old lace making technique using a small shuttle to make knots. The lace was used to make things like collars, edgings for napkins and handkerchiefs, dollies, and baby clothes. Today, tatting is used in a variety of way as I have displayed here.
